Driving a Plug-in electric vehicle is extremely safe. Both the Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf are top safety picks for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The following information is intended for first responders and emergency services.
The National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Electric Vehicle Safety Training project is a nationwide program to help firefighters and other first responders prepare for the growing number of electric vehicles on the road in the United States.
The NFPA project, funded by a $4.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, provides first responders with information they need to most effectively deal with potential emergency situations involving electric vehicles.
For more information on electric vehicle safety training, please visit the project’s website at
www.EVSafetyTraining.org
. Here you will also find specific vehicle first responder guides from many of the leading manufactures such as Chevrolet, Ford, BMW, Nissan, and Volkswagen.
