EV Cup, organisers of the world’s first zero emission electric vehicle circuit race series, will be using next week’s Autosport Show to reveal full details of their race programme for 2011.

A series of races are scheduled for the UK and further afield with a choice of electrically powered cars, making up what will be a totally new concept for motor sport.

Having been launched as a concept at last year’s Autosport Show, the team behind EV Cup have been working behind the scenes to further develop the innovative international race and marketing programme . The final piece in the jigsaw has now dropped into place with agreement just reached with a major global representation partner to bring the show together commercially.

EV Cup Managing Director Sylvain Filippi says:” We have all the elements in place to start serious EV racing in 2011 and we are very excited at the prospects. We have a strong following and plenty of inquiries from teams who want to be in at the start of something new.”

Race Director Grahame Butterworth explains: “We will be offering drivers the choice of buying cars or renting drives. We have in place a programme of events at prime circuits and we plan shortly to offer potential customers the chance to experience at first hand electric power on the track.

“Sustainable EV racing will become a reality this year and the UK will be leading the way in making it happen with the assistance of some quality names in British motor sport.”
